CSIC presented yesterday the resolution of the first edition of the initiative ComFuturo that aims to facilitate the development of cutting-edge research in Spain in the areas of in health, sustainability and industrial innovation.
Two young scientists at CNB are among the 14 selected researchers that will benefit from the program. Laura Martínez Muñóz and Javier Vargas Balbuena will receive, over the next three years, an annual Budget of 31,600€ contributed by private institutions supporting the initiative plus 5,000 € from the CSIC.
Laura Martínez Muñóz’s project will study inflammatory autoimmune diseases and its title will be “Therapeutics strategies based on chemokines for the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases”. Martinez Muñóz is part of the Department of Immunology and Oncology of the CNB.
Javier Vargas Balbuena works at the Department of Macromolecular Structures and his project will be "Image processing in cryo-electron microscopy with an impact on the pharmaceutical industry."
