The Scientific Strategy and Management Unit (SSMU) provides scientific and technical support to the CNB’s Research Groups and Core Services in the search for funding opportunities. The SSMU is committed to and specialised in the promotion and optimisation of research and scientific development at the CNB. The main objective of the Unit is to strengthen the Centre’s capacity to identify and attract high quality project opportunities. The SSMU’s policy is aligned with the CNB’s Scientific Direction and Strategic Plan, working, in collaboration with the Administrative and Economic Management of National and International Projects services, to: (i) promote the active search for competitive calls for projects suitable for the CNB’s research groups, and (ii) offer institutional support of administrative procedures for the attraction and retention of young talent.

The main activities of the Scientific Strategy and Management Unit focus on:
–    Study and evaluation of the needs, requirements and interactions of the CNB Departments, Research Groups and the Core Facilities.
–    Proactive search and analysis of calls for proposals and funding opportunities.
–    Dissemination of calls for proposals and funding opportunities to the CNB’s researcher community.
–    Promotion transversal research between the CNB’s Departments and Groups.
–    Assistance and support in competitive application processes.
–    Review on the preparation of proposals. Organisation of peer-to-peer pre-evaluation meetings.
–  Management of institutional requirements interrelated to key areas such as education, ethics, equality and regulatory issues, scientific dissemination and tasks related to consortia and coordinated research.
–    Project Management and assistance in the elaboration of project reports.

Office for International Research Talent Attraction

The Office for International Research Talent Attraction (Oficina de Captación de Personal Internacional, OCPI) is part of the Scientific and Strategic Management Unit of the CNB. The Office serves as a gateway for researchers worldwide, breaking down barriers and enabling seamless integration into our research institution. It provides support with the complexities of relocation, immigration and visa processes, cultural adjustment, and practical aspects of living in the Madrid area, facilitating a smooth transition from their places of origin to the CNB.

By bringing together diverse perspectives in an international and multicultural environment, our institution gains:
