FEES

The facility applies molecular imaging technology to the study of biological functions. We evaluate, calibrate and maintain the digital imaging equipment, and we are responsible for complementary systems and shared materials such as computers, software, antibodies and fluorescence markers. The department has equipment that includes several fluorescence widefield and confocal microscopes as well as an in vivo microscope time-lapse recording system. We also have specific imaging software for image analysis and tridimensional image reconstruction.
Besides we offer assistance and training about equipment use.

Equipment

Equipment:
• Confocal multispectral Olympus FV 1000 system. Laser lines: 405, 458, 488, 515, 543, and 633 nm.
• Confocal multispectral Zeiss Meta LSM 510 system. Laser lines: 405, 458, 515, 561 and 633 nm
• Epifluorescence upright microscope Leica DM RB with digital Olympus DP70 camera.
• Epifluorescence inverted microscope Olympus IX70 with digital Olympus DP702 camera.
• Epifluorescence inverted microscope Olympus CELL R with incubation system for in vivo studies and ORCA 300 monochrome digital camera for image detection.
• Offline computer workstation for fluorescence and confocal image processing and analysis (Image J, Huygens, Imaris).

Laser scanning confocal microscopy applications:
• Multichannel confocal imaging + transmission imaging of living cells or fixed samples (2D, 3D, 4D imaging)
• Multidimensional time-lapse experiments (xyzt)
• FRET, FRAP, lambda scan,
• Subcellular localization and colocalization studies
• Reflection studies on dense material
• 3D, 4D and tilescan reconstructions

Widefield applications:
• Multichannel fluorescence imaging + transmission imaging (BF, DIC, phase contrast)
