During the XIV Annual Congress of the European Proteomics Association (EuPA) held in Leipzig (Germany), CNB-CSIC researcher Fernando Corrales received the "Juan Pablo Albar Proteome Pioneer Award" for his scientific career in the field.
Juan Pablo Albar Award for proteomics pioneers
With this award, EuPA aims to honor a person with a track record of excellence in the field of research, who has contributed to the establishment of the basic principles on the study of proteins on a large scale and to the development of Proteomics in Europe. The name of the award recalls the memory of one of the pioneers in this scientific area, also a CNB-CSIC researcher.
Scientific career
Fernando Corrales, is the head of the Proteomics Laboratory at the CNB-CSIC. His current lines of research focus on the study of the mechanisms associated with liver function and disease, which he addresses using proteomics and genomics approaches combined in a systems biology-based strategy. His research activity resulted in the publication of more than 180 scientific publications. He is a member of the editorial board of different journals specialized in Proteomics and Hepatology. He has been the General Coordinator of the Molecular and Bioinformatics Resources Platform (PRB3) and ProteoRed-ISCIII (Spanish Proteomics Network). He is a member of the Executive Boards of the Spanish Proteomics Society (SEProt), of the European Proteomics Association (EuPA). Within HUPO, he leads the liver-focused initiative and the BD and C-HPP Projects.
