Hola, welcome to the Logic of Genomic Systems Lab web page. We are a laboratory at the Spanish National Biotechnology Centre (CNB-CSIC), in Madrid, Spain. This initiative has been established by a former theoretical quantum physicist (that must be me) who did a PhD in Quantum Computation and then got interested in Biology. I am currently a tenured Associate Professor (Científico Titular) here at CNB. If you think that you might be interested in the research we are doing (check out the research page to get a better idea of some of the projects we are currently working on) and would like to join the lab (as an undergraduate, graduate or postdoc) just drop me a line. We follow Weinberg's four golden lessons in the lab. |

Graduate and Post-graduate collaborators |
Matteo Cavaliere. Matteo is a Computer Scientist who worked in Natural Computing for his PhD. He is now trying to understand the evolution of cooperation while enjoying pop-punk music and mountains in Spain (not necessarily at the same time). |
Juan Barrero. Juan is a PhD student working on synthetic biology and gene regulatory networks. While not dancing with E. coli, he does funky dancing (amateur) and martial arts (non amateur). He is also the local expert on conspiracy theories. |
Djordje Bajic. Djordje is a bit over-caffeinated PhD student (Biology graduate) interested in evolutionary dynamics. He is using computer models and comparative genomics to understand gene expression evolution. He also likes rock climbing -and falling- jazz, and rock and roll. |
Clara Moreno. Clara is a MSc student (Biochemistry graduate) interested in genetic networks. She is currently using in silico models to understand their structure and dynamics. Clara is also passionate about dancing, cooking (we do eat her cakes) and various social-justice issues. |
Saúl Ares. Saúl is a physicist that used to love (apparent) phase transitions for his PhD before switching to Biology. He is now interested in biological clocks and bacteria that predict the future (not necessarily with clocks). He ran a half-marathon once and likes all types of music (yes this includes AC/DC). |

Collaborators |
Jesús Blázquez (microbial evolution,CNB, Spain). We are studing genetic networks related to stress response.
Raúl Guantes (nonlinear dynamics, Universidad Autónoma, Spain). We are studying nonlinearity and noise in genetic circuits.
Laurence D. Hurst (evolutionary genetics, University of Bath, UK). We are studying functional and evolutionary properties of genomic systems. |
