TASKS AND SERVICES
Risk assessment, acquisition of safety equipment and edition of procedures:
Evaluations, previous and periodic, of biological, chemical and radiological risk.
Design of labs and other facilities in which these risks may exist.
Management of the acquisition of radioisotopes and means, equipment and instruments of prevention and protection.
Issuing of the CNB Basic Guide, the Safety & Health CNB Manual, and specific associated procedures.
Handling and administration of reports and documents related with start-up procedures or operating conditions legally required.
Management of hazardous waste:
Managing the production and conditioning of biosanitary, toxic and radioactive waste at the production sources.
Internal handling and final storage up to the transfer to an authorized company of waste management.
Controlled disposal of disclassified radioactive waste.
Operating surveillance:
Classifying and signalling of risky areas and labs.
Control of the safety & health rules accomplishment .
Control
of the operation and use of the facilities, means and instruments of
prevention, protection, sterilization and disinfection.
Tracking
the internal records of operational surveillance, personnel control,
hazardous waste management, incidents and accidents, etc.
Cooperation
in the management of medical and dosimetric surveillance of the exposed
personnel. Maintenance of medical and dosimetric reports of the exposed
personnel.
Acting in incidents, accidents and emergency situations following the previously established procedures.
Training and information to the exposed personnel:
Safety and Health seminars for the personnel exposed to potential risk agents.
Permanent practical advising for the exposed personnel.
FACILITIES
The Service surveys the operational risks in all CNB labs and facilities
and, moreover, directly operates the Biosafety level 3 Laboratory and
the radioactive facility.
