SERVICE DECRIPTION
The Laboratory Animal Facility is an area dedicated to the production and maintenance of experimental animals, supporting research and essential techniques for this duty.
Most of the experimentation is carried out with mouse model genetically modified. Animal facility and equipment are specially design for this models. The CNB Laboratory Animal Service is located on the basement of the building and an annex area, called S-100 AREA, in order to stock animals generated in the SPF Area. The Central Facilities are divided in AREAS well defined as: QUARENTEEN AREA with two separated areas: one area is for animal coming from providers (Commercial Firms) and the other is for imported animal coming from other Institutions or Laboratories whit which the CNB scientists collaborate. CONVENTIONAL AREA:
BAREER AREA: breeding, maintenance and transgenic animal generation, knock-out and knock-in, and support to the CNB Transgenic and Freezing Service. EXPERIMENTAL AREA (P2): is an independent area, equipped with sterilizers and cleaning room, where experimental protocols are developed.
