SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Microinyección pronuclearGeneration of genetically altered animal models is a fundamental tool to achieve new approaches in Biomedicine Research. The CNB-CBMSO Transgenic Unit has been created thanks to the collaboration effort of centers, aiming to enforce a synergy that will allow optimizing resources and widening the service offer to users.

The main objective is to offer support to research groups from both Centers that require the generation, management or interchange of genetically modified murine models for their research activity.

The Unit offers, among other activities:

  • Mouse line rederivation into pathogen-free recipients, either by embryo transfer (ET) or in vitro fertilization (IVF)
  • Pronuclear microinjection of plasmidic, DNA, BACs or YACs to generate transgenic mice
  • Generation of ES cell lines
  • Vector electroporation into ES cells of different genetic backgrounds Generation of KO and KI models by means of injection into blastocysts of ES cells provided by international consortiums or generated indoors
  • Support in the creation, establishment and management of genetically altered mouse lines
  1. Founder genotipation through PCR
  2. Homozigotes identification through real time PCR
  • Speed congenics
  • Support in functional reproductive studies
  1. Recovery and culture of embryos indifferent preimplantational stages
  2. Morphological and functional evaluation of spermatozoa

At the same time different research studies are developed in order to implement present technologies or incorporate new ones. We also carry on a specialized educational activity director to users demanding training in different reproductive technologies.
