Head of Department: José L. Carrascosa.

The activity of the members of this Department is centered around different aspects of Structural Biology, covering from experimental to in silico approaches. Several groups of the Department are involved in services at the Center, such as Proteomics, Electron Microscopy and X-ray crystallography.

One of the main strengths of the Department is the presence of several groups involved in different aspects of advanced electron microscopy and image processing. Some of them share their interest for the analysis of virus morphogenesis, from the cellular domain to the molecular details of virus assembly and structure.

The Department also host the Coordinating node for the Spanish Proteomic Network, running several projects based on advanced methods in mass spectrometry, with emphasis in high throughput analyses of postraslational modifications.
