For the fifth year in a row, Fundación “la Caixa” launched the International Fellowship Programme for 10 fully funded PhD positions at the Spanish National Centre for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC).

Fundación "la Caixa" is a non-profit organization funded through Spain’s largest financial institution, the Caja de Ahorros y Pensiones de Barcelona, “la Caixa”. Its budget and activity make Fundación "la Caixa" one of the ten leading foundations in the world.

Since 1982, Fundación “la Caixa” supports different grant programmes for postgraduate studies in Spain and abroad.

In 2008, Fundación “la Caixa” launched an international fellowship programme for 10 fully funded PhD positions at the Spanish National Centre for Biotechnology (CNB), the largest Spanish research centre and one of the leading institutions in the world in the field of Biotechnology, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine (as evaluated by EMBO in 2005).

Ten PhD positions to be carried out at the CNB have been made by Fundación La Caixa within the following areas of study:

• Macromolecular Structures
• Cellular and Molecular Biology
• Microbial Biotechnology
• Plant Molecular Genetics
• Immunology and Oncology
• Systems Biology

The fellowships offer an internationally competitive stipend and will be renovated on a yearly basis up to a maximum of four years.
