Mutagenesis drive diversification and persistence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a versatile opportunistic pathogen
causing a wide variety of hospital-acquired acute infections in
immunocompromised patients
as well as chronic respiratory infections in
patients suffering from cystic fibrosis or other chronic respiratory
diseases.
Workshop on the study of Hepatitis C virus infection. Organized by CNB researcher Pablo Gastaminza, on 13 April 2012 we are hosting a workshop on the study of hepatitis C virus infection at the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología.
ATP hydrolysis drives microcantilever bending. The collaboration between José L. Carrascosa a and Javier Tamayo at the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Madrid has given rise to a novel measurement of real time conformational changes of viral ATPases. The researchers showed that the nanomechanical response of its device was dependent on the monolayer arrangement of ATPases at the cantilever surface.
XIX CNB Scientific Workshop. On December 19th and 20th, we will host our XIX Scientific Workshop, an excellent opportunity for an update in the Life Sciences research carried out at the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología.

Meet our Scientists
The main objectives of our laboratory are geared toward understanding the molecular basis of the pathogenesis of infectious agents and their interaction with the host, as well as to use this knowledge in the development of vaccines that might be effective against diseases like AIDS, malaria and leishmaniasis. As a model system of an infectious agent and as a delivery vector for expression of genes of interest, we used vaccinia virus (VV), a member of the poxvirus family. |
